MALANG ODYSSEY

Last month, our class went on this super cool trip called “Malang Odyssey.” We kicked things off by flying from Balikpapan to Surabaya, and from there, the real adventure in Malang began. It wasn't just a boring school trip; it was a mix of city vibes, nature, learning new stuff, and—my favorite part—hitting up all the best food spots.
Right after landing in Surabaya, we did a quick city tour and drove across the Suramadu Bridge. Man, the view from up there was a vibe! It was the perfect way to start the trip. We grabbed some spicy Bebek Suramadu Sambal Pencit for lunch before heading straight to Malang to crash at the Harris Hotel.
That evening, we tucked into the legendary Bakso President (eating meatballs right by the train tracks is a whole experience!) and then checked out Malang Night Paradise. The place was glowing with lanterns, and the dino park and rides were a blast.
The next few days were just as lit. We made a splash at Hawai Waterpark and then took a chill walk through the old-school streets of Kayutangan Heritage. When night fell, we hung out at the Malang City Square, just snacking on street food and soaking in the lively atmosphere.
One of the best highlights was definitely relaxing at Lembah Tumpang Resort—nothing beats a hot spring soak and pretty gardens. We also hit up Museum Angkut, which was actually really cool because they’ve got all these vintage cars from all over the world. Later that night, we wandered around the Floating Market in Batu and grabbed some snacks at Cafe Sawah Pujon Kidul while enjoying the rural night views.
The fun didn't stop there. We spent a day at Jatim Park 2 learning about animals and then topped it off with more rides at Batu Night Spectacular. Before we had to fly back to Balikpapan, we made sure to grab a bunch of souvenirs and had one last big meal together.
Huge shoutout to our tour guide, too. He was a total legend—super friendly, kept everything on track, and actually made the history stuff sound interesting. He made sure we were all safe and that everything ran smoothly. The trip wouldn't have been the same without him.
All in all, the Malang Odyssey was an unforgettable experience. It was the perfect mix of hanging out, learning, and eating good food. If you're looking for a place to go with your classmates, Malang is 100% the way to go. You get to have fun and learn a thing or two at the same time!
