My trip to Derawan Island was one of the most memorable travel experiences I have ever had. I spent five days there with my friends, exploring the beauty of the sea, visiting several islands, and enjoying many exciting activities. Derawan Island is famous for its crystal-clear water and rich marine life, and after visiting it, I truly understand why it is considered one of Indonesia’s hidden paradises.

 


The journey to Derawan Island was long but enjoyable. Traveling together with friends made the trip feel lighter and more fun. Upon arrival, the stunning blue sea immediately caught my attention and created a strong first impression. The peaceful atmosphere of the island made us feel relaxed from the very beginning.

 

One of the highlights of this trip was island hopping. We visited Sangalaki, Kakaban, and Maratua Islands, each offering its own unique beauty. Kakaban Island, in particular, felt very calm and refreshing, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. Snorkeling in Derawan was another unforgettable experience. The clear water allowed us to see colorful fish and beautiful coral reefs, which made the activity even more exciting.

 

Besides enjoying nature, this trip also gave us the chance to learn about local life by visiting a fishing village. This experience helped me appreciate the simplicity and culture of the local community. In the evenings, we enjoyed activities such as beach walks, mini games, fishing, and a bonfire. These moments strengthened our friendship and made the trip feel warm and meaningful.

 

Overall, Derawan Island is an amazing destination for anyone who loves nature, the sea, and adventure. The most exciting part of this trip was snorkeling and island hopping with my friends. Seeing colorful fish and coral reefs in such clear water felt like being in another world. Spending time together at night around the bonfire, sharing stories, laughing, and enjoying the calm beach atmosphere made the experience even more special. Those moments became the best memories of the trip and made Derawan Island truly unforgettable for me.

The journey started from Samarinda to Tanjung Batu by land, which took quite a long time, but it never felt tiring thanks to the beautiful natural scenery of East Kalimantan along the way. From Tanjung Batu Port, we continued the trip by speedboat to Derawan Island, and the moment we were out at sea, the clear blue water and tropical atmosphere immediately set the mood for an unforgettable trip.   Derawan Island made a great first impression.
