My journey to Derawan Island became one of the most memorable trips I have ever had. I spent five wonderful days there with my friends, enjoying the ocean view, exploring nearby islands, and joining various exciting activities. Derawan Island is famous for its crystal-clear water and rich marine biodiversity, and visiting this destination made me realize why it is so popular among travelers.
On the first day, I traveled together with Yasmin and Fahri. We gathered in Berambai and continued our trip to Sangatta. Since the journey took a long time, we stopped for a meal at Warung Hailam Acim to regain our energy. After that, we headed to Tanjung Batu Harbor and crossed to Derawan Island by speedboat. Arriving at the island, I was amazed by the stunning blue sea. We checked into our accommodation, had lunch, and spent the afternoon swimming. In the evening, we had dinner together and enjoyed a relaxing night by the beach. Spending time with friends while listening to the sound of waves made the first day truly memorable.
The second day was led by our guide, Joe. After breakfast at the cottage, we began our island-hopping adventure. Our first destination was Sangalaki Island, followed by Kakaban Island. Exploring Kakaban Island felt peaceful because of its natural beauty and calm atmosphere. We then continued to Maratua Island, where we had lunch. In the afternoon, we returned to Derawan Island and enjoyed our free time. That night, we had dinner at the inn, walked along the shoreline, played some simple games, and took a short rest.
On the third day, Raihan Davindra accompanied us. After breakfast, we went snorkeling around Derawan Island. This activity became one of my favorite moments because the underwater scenery was extremely clear and filled with colorful marine life. We also visited a local fishermen’s village, which gave us insight into the daily lives of the local community. After lunch, we explored another snorkeling spot. In the late afternoon, we returned to the cottage and prepared for fishing. Afterward, we had dinner and ended the night with a bonfire on the beach, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere.
The fourth day was guided by Leon. We started the morning with breakfast and continued with free activities. We took photos and recorded videos around the island as documentation of our trip. After lunch, we relaxed at the cottage and swam near the beach. In the evening, we began packing our belongings. We had a farewell dinner, enjoyed some free time, played mini games, and then rested.
On the final day, Raihan Kurniawan accompanied us back. After breakfast, we checked out of the inn and returned to Tanjung Batu Harbor by speedboat. The journey continued to Kota Bangun, where we took a short break. Later, we had lunch in Tenggarong before heading to Samarinda, Lambung Mangkurat. Finally, we said goodbye to each other on Jalan Lambung Mangkurat, marking the end of our journey.
In conclusion, my trip to Derawan Island was a meaningful and unforgettable experience. From snorkeling in clear waters to sharing laughter with friends by the beach, every moment was precious. This journey not only created lasting memories but also deepened my appreciation for Indonesia’s natural beauty.
