Visiting Derawan Island was one of the most unforgettable experiences in my life. I spent five wonderful days there with my friends, enjoying the ocean, exploring several islands, and doing many exciting activities. Derawan Island is famous for its crystal-clear water and stunning marine life, and after visiting it, I truly understood why it attracts so many tourists.

 

On the first day, I went on the trip with Yasmin and Fahri. We gathered at Berambai and then traveled to Sangatta. Since the journey took a long time, we stopped at Warung Hailam Acim to eat before continuing. After that, we headed to Tanjung Batu Harbor and boarded a speedboat to Derawan Island. Upon arrival, I felt extremely happy when I saw the clear blue sea for the first time. We checked into the inn, had lunch, and spent the afternoon swimming. In the evening, we enjoyed dinner together and spent time relaxing by the beach. Sharing moments with friends by the seaside made the first day unforgettable.


The second day was led by our guide, Joe. After breakfast at the cottage, we began our island-hopping adventure. Our first destination was Sangalaki Island, followed by Kakaban Island. Strolling around Kakaban Island was very pleasant because of its peaceful atmosphere and beautiful views. Next, we visited Maratua Island, where we had lunch. In the afternoon, we returned to Derawan Island and enjoyed some free time. At night, we had dinner at the inn, took a walk along the beach, played mini games, and then rested.

 


On the third day, we were accompanied by Raihan Davindra. After having breakfast, we went snorkeling in Derawan. This activity became one of my favorite parts of the trip because the underwater scenery was incredibly clear and filled with colorful fish. We also stopped by a local fishing village, which allowed me to learn more about the everyday lives of the local residents. After lunch, we visited another snorkeling spot. Later in the afternoon, we went back to the cottage and prepared for fishing. Afterward, we had dinner, enjoyed our free time, and closed the day with a bonfire on the beach. The atmosphere that night was warm and joyful.

 

On the fourth day, Leon guided our activities. We started the morning with breakfast and then spent time doing various free activities. We took pictures and recorded videos around Derawan Island as documentation. After lunch, we relaxed at the cottage and swam at the nearby beach. In the evening, we returned to the cottage and began packing our belongings. We had a farewell dinner, followed by mini games and free time before going to sleep.

 

On the final day, Raihan Kurniawan accompanied us. After breakfast, we checked out of the inn and traveled by speedboat back to Tanjung Batu Harbor. We continued our journey to Kota Bangun and took a short rest. Then, we had lunch in Tenggarong before heading to Samarinda through Lambung Mangkurat. At last, we said goodbye to each other on Jalan Lambung Mangkurat, marking the end of our trip.

 

In conclusion, my trip to Derawan Island was a valuable and memorable experience. I truly enjoyed every activity, especially snorkeling and spending quality time with my friends by the beach. This journey left me with unforgettable memories and helped me appreciate Indonesia’s natural beauty even more.

The journey started from Samarinda to Tanjung Batu by land, which took quite a long time, but it never felt tiring thanks to the beautiful natural scenery of East Kalimantan along the way.
